New Office On King Avenue Triples Number of Exam Rooms, is Close to Both Area Hospitals

Georgia Cancer SpecialistsGeorgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) – a Top 10 private cancer practice in the U.S. – will move their current Athens office to a new location at 125 King Avenue, Suite 200, on Monday, February 28, Dr. J. Bancroft Lesesne, GCS President and interim CEO, said. The move is well timed, as the GCS-Athens office needs the additional space to treat its growing patient population.

“Expanding our office in Athens will enable us to do an even better job of serving our patients in the Athens community,” Dr. Lesesne said. “One of our prime missions at GCS is to give state-of-the-art cancer care to patients in the communities where they live. We’re expanding our office in Athens to meet the needs of that flourishing community.”

Drs. Richard O. Loyd, Nirav Dhruva, and Sherine J. Thomas will continue to see patients in the new Athens office, which is located near Athens Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Loyd said, “With triple the number of exam rooms, twice the number of chemo chairs, and a designated procedure room, we can now do an even more efficient job of seeing our patients in the Athens area.”

In addition to having an additional 1,000 square feet of space, the new facility has Wi-Fi for patients and is in a more convenient location, Athens office manager Christine Long said. The new office will also incorporate specialized retail pharmacy services and is working toward bringing the GCS clinical research program to Athens in 2011.

While the location is new, the phone number remains the same. Patients can reach the office by calling (706) 369-4478. For directions to the new location, visit gacancer.com/Athens
