With the addition of Dr. Salahattin M. Sanal, Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) continues to grow and expand its services as the largest private oncology/hematology practice in the Southeast. Dr. Sanal will join Dr. William Whaley at the GCS Blue Ridge office. He will also practice at the Blairsville office and the Jasper office, which will open in late spring.

GCS now has 33 physicians and 25 offices throughout Atlanta, Macon, and North Georgia. In addition to the Blue Ridge office, which has been open for five years, GCS has expanded the Blairsville office’s hours. Also, Dr. Whaley will staff the new office in Ellijay, which is slated to open in spring.
Dr. Sanal joins GCS after practicing with the Florida Oncology Associates and the Florida Oncology Group, both in Jacksonville, FL. While in Jacksonville, Dr. Sanal was also an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology-Medical Oncology at the University of Florida Health Science Center. Prior to his stay in Jacksonville, Dr. Sanal was an Assistant and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Dr. Sanal received his medical degree from the University of Ankara School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. He completed his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL and his fellowship at the University of Utah College of Medicine in Salt Lake City, UT. His areas of special interest include the management of breast, lung, and colorectal cancers.
