Open House Showcases Expanded Georgia Cancer Specialists Northside Clinic

Thursday, October 11th, 2001

Georgia Cancer Specialists hosted more than 150 guests for an open house at its newest and largest clinic located across the street from Northside Hospital on June 13, 2001. The expanded, full-service Northside Clinic is Georgia Cancer Specialists’ 20th office, which includes administration offices and a research wing located in more than 11,000 square feet of office space.

Visitors had the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art clinic, meet its physicians, and hear more about the clinic’s services, including research conducted in partnership with the University of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer Center (UAB), and Northside Hospital. The Northside Clinic physicians—Dr. Bancroft Lesesne, Dr. Carlos Franco, Dr. Janice Galleshaw, Dr. Pradeep Jolly, and Dr. Mansoor Saleh—and 30 other staff members treat over 80 patients per day.

Dr. Lesesne, Georgia Cancer Specialists Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, says, “Our new facility allows us to serve more patients and to serve them better. We were pleased to see so many physicians at our open house and look forward to working with many of them on an ongoing basis.”

Northside Hospital welcomes an expanded Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) presence, especially because it offers Northside Hospital patients opportunities to participate in some of the most cutting-edge cancer research in the country. Thanks to the GCS-UAB clinical trials network, the Georgia Cancer Specialists Northside Clinic conducts clinical trials—including Phase I trials—that are not available anywhere else in Georgia.

Barry Boatman, Oncology Research Coordinator for Northside Hospital, says, “Through our new relationship with Georgia Cancer Specialists and the University of Alabama, we are bringing Phase I and II trials to more people in our community. This is the first time in Georgia that a community hospital, a private physician group, and an academic medical center have formed this kind of partnership.”

Previously, Georgia Cancer Specialists served Northside patients at 993-D Johnson Ferry Road. The new Georgia Cancer Specialists Northside Clinic is located at 975 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite 200. For more information on its physicians and services, call the office at 404-256-4777.
