Program Benefits Women Undergoing Chemotherapy Treatment

Georgia Cancer Specialists and the American Cancer Society have teamed up to provide the “Look Good, Feel Better” program to cancer patients in the Atlanta area. The class teaches women about skin care, make-up techniques, and creative ways to wear hats, scarves, and wigs in order to look and feel attractive while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

GCS CEO Dr. Bruce Feinberg said, “We are very excited to be able to host such a valuable program. At Georgia Cancer Specialists, we focus on treating the spirit as well as the flesh, and his class affords another great opportunity to do that. ”

The class will be held on the third Monday of each month from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. beginning April 19 at the GCS Northside Office, located at 975 Johnson Ferry Rd. NE, Suite 200 in Atlanta. Women interested in participating should register in advance through the American Cancer Society by calling 404-816-4994.

Demme Pluta, a wellness coordinator with GCS, said this program will be a wonderful asset to women undergoing chemotherapy. “This class will help give women others to relate to so they don’t feel so alone,” she said. “Hopefully they will come out of these sessions feeling much better physically and emotionally. ”

Each woman will receive a personal make-up kit and instructions from a licensed cosmetologist.
