Priya Rudolph, M.D., PhDOncologist Dr. Priya Rudolph of Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS)—a Top 10 private cancer practice in the U.S.—was recently featured on Barbara Dooley’s WGAU 1340AM radio show. he new drug is approved for metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer patients whose disease has progressed following treatment with Herceptin and a taxane chemotherapy drug, such as paclitaxel.

“HER2-positive only accounts for about 25% of all breast cancers,” said Dr. Rudolph. However, “people who have a breast cancer with a HER2 marker on the breast cancer generally have an aggressive tumor that can spread quickly and go to multiple organs.”

The new drug is good news for individuals suffering from this particularly aggressive type of breast cancer and yet another tool available for the GCS oncologists to better serve their patients.

Georgia Cancer Specialists played an integral role in the study that led to the drug’s approval, and was recently selected to be involved in the upcoming trial designed to test T-DM1 in the front line setting.
