GCS Physician Featured Guest on The Weekly Check-Up Radio Show

Dr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah Radio ShowGCS Physician Dr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah (Dr. Jay) was a guest on The Weekly Check-Up radio show, which airs live Sundays from 3-5 p.m. on AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB. Dr. Jay joined the show’s host, Dr. Bruce Feinberg, a former Atlanta oncologist, and Ken Thorpe, PhD, the Robert W. Woodruff Professor and Chair in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Emory and executive director of Emory’s Institute of Advanced Policy Solutions (IAPS), for a conversation about the recent landmark ruling on the Affordable Care Act by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Dr. Jay talked about how being underprivileged and uninsured can affect cancer risk and her experience treating cancer patients, both insured and uninsured. She said she has often been personally involved in helping patients pay for treatment. Dr. Jay also spends several days in her native India each year educating the community in cancer prevention, research, and new therapies.

Dr. Jay also discussed new advances in genetics and genomics and how it could change cancer care, including the reduction of side effects, economic impact, and the development of more personalized care. 

Dr. Jay is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. She completed her medical degree at Bangalore Medical College in Bangalore, India, and residencies at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. She completed a fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Jay’s areas of special interest include breast cancer, genetics, colon cancer, lung cancer, and benign hematology.

Dr. Jay is a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the DeKalb County Medical Society. Dr. Jay chairs the Cancer Committee at DeKalb Medical, which includes the chairing of the Clinical Trials and Genetics Committees. Dr. Jay appeared on the cover and was featured in an article in MD News magazine. She has been listed in Guide to America’s Top Docs 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, and on the board of the Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE) and the Be the Match Foundation. Dr. Jay currently serves on the GCS Board of Directors.
