Listen to the message

Last month, Georgia Cancer Specialists teamed up with WSB-AM to bring you the Prostate Proactivity Campaign. I hope you tuned in and visited the Ask-the-Doc section of the GCS web site.

Recently, some have asked if there is a downside to prostate cancer screening.

In fact, it seems not a month goes by without a major news story calling into question the value of screening exams like mammograms, colonoscopies, or PSA tests.

The elaborate and often complex scientific studies get reduced to 30-second sound bites that only create confusion.

I stand steadfast in my support of early detection by the best, proven methods available.

For prostate cancer, that means PSA tests digital rectal exams.

Early detection remains the best weapon we have against this silent killer. Talk to your doctor about prostate cancer screening and get screened.

This is Dr. Bruce Feinberg. Be well.
