My very wise grandmother likes to say, “everything in moderation.”
It’s only natural, then, that we pick up this week with a discussion on coffee, which so many of us consume in excess.
Where would we be without coffee? Could we have gotten to the moon, or even to work, without it?
Researchers have studied coffee ad nauseam, looking for links to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pancreatic cancer, and bone loss.
And so far there is no hard evidence suggesting that it is bad for us. In fact, coffee and its dominant trait caffeine may even have health benefits.
The reason: antioxidants, which protect against cell damage. By doing so, they may reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.
And that’s not all.
Researchers have found that coffee may stave off Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and liver damage.
Not bad for a cup of Joe…if we could only get the price below a dollar.
This is Dr. Bruce Feinberg. Be well.
