Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) refers to a diverse group of cancers that arise from immune surveillance cells called lymphocytes. Some lymphocyte cancers do not form tumors but remain in the blood stream and are called lymphocytic leukemia. Long-term survival and even cure can be achieved in patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. This requires correctly classifying the lymphoma according to the specific morphologic criteria, defining the extent of disease through staging, and selecting the appropriate therapy for the morphologic subtype and stage.
