GCS Physician Dr. Jay Gave Oncology Lectures in India

Jayanthi Srinivasiah (Dr. Jay), MDDr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah (Dr. Jay) traveled to India at the end of 2010 and into the New Year, spending much of her time there giving talks about genetics, genomics, and new cancer therapies both to fellow doctors as well as community members.

At the Bangalore Medical College Alumni Association CMW Conference – an event attended by physicians from all over the world – Dr. Jay discussed genetics and genomics of breast cancer. Since returning home, Dr. Jay has sent educational materials to enable physicians to set up genetics and genomics labs in Bangalore, India.

She also participated in a talk at Kidwai Memorial Hospital – a lecture series she regularly participates in – and was a guest speaker at Kolar Medical College. Additionally, Dr. Jay gave two lectures to elderly audiences regarding screening and recent cancer-related breakthroughs. 

“I like to stay busy when I go to India – there’s always so much new information to share with people there,” Dr. Jay said. “I’m especially excited about the genetics and genomics labs that are in progress in Bangalore now. That will bring great advancements to their community.”
